Note that this discussion assumes that you've built a kernel from the Darwin source, which would be the first step if you were going to actually do any serious kernel development.

The 10.2.4 kernel is, as I'm sure you're aware, not available.

When I tried building 10.2.1, .2 and .3 kernels and running them under 10.2.4, they all exhibited similar behavior - frequent, reproducible and unavoidable kernel panics (e.g. whenever using PPP, whenever using the hard drive heavily etc).

Am I doing something wrong to cause these things - i.e. should I be able to use the 10.2.3 kernel under 10.2.4 without breaking things heavily?

Or is this a "go back and install 10.2.3 again" situation?
