2) What does configd print in verbose mode when you are in this condition?

Tons of stuff. The problem is that I don't understand a lick of what I'm reading and I'm never quite sure when the wait state begins. There's no time stamps. I don't know that configd is stuck until I see that my screen is still alive. Configd keeps spitting out info even when it's in the wait. Sometimes it takes hours.

Can you post a little of that output (we don't need a full load ;-})? Without details, it's impossible to know what you are seeing.

3) You can use 'sample', or, perhaps, 'shark', to get an idea of what configd is doing while the hang is in progress. Ok, this isn't a question.

I'm doing sample. I'm afraid this is getting a bit over my head.

You should file a bug report with Apple (<http://bugreporter.apple.com>), and include the 'sample' output, and some of the output from above.

Sorry I can't provide more direct help, but someone on the list may see something in what you post.

Regards,

Justin
