Dear list,
I have a task to write a networking filter, which scans HTTP traffic,
and, having encountered some pattern in HTTP Headers, it should make a
decision - to let this request go farther, or to cancel it and return
to browser some predefined LOCAL page.
What i have learned so far (and advices i had got here) is that the
functionality can be implemented using an NKE filter driver (which
works on a socket level).
I am wondering i there are easier ways to achieve this? I have not
done any network programming so far for macs, and i am do not have a
"big picture" of capabilities the system provides to a programmer.
Maybe i could install (or there is already installed) some packet
sniffer which allows modifying of the packets? Or maybe i could do
that using some usermode driver?
This is going to be some kind of "parental control system", the user
is not going to be log in as an administrator.
Could you push me in the right direction?
Thank you!
Nick
