Lance,
I am with you 100%.
But perhaps the reason you are hanging around on Apple's list(s?) is
you sense that there could be something better than Logic.
In my opinion, you just have to wait for Apple to "do what they do"
and what they have done with all their other professional
applications - make a powerful yet intuitive application. Just take
a look at Final Cut Pro and Aperture and it is obvious that Apple is
not going to leave music professionals with only Logic as it is now.
But consider the monumental task of doing what I think they are doing
- building an app from scratch that has Logic's functionality (cos
the users will demand it) with a brilliant interface. Now there is a
challenge, made all the more difficult by the fact that Logic is such
a full featured program so users will demand similar functionality
from the get go.
It can take years to do things like that. But the signs are there
that that is exactly what they are up to. Look at Soundtrack Pro and
the audio side of Final Cut Pro (and Garageband?) and I think that
what they are up to becomes clearer. I anticipate that Apple is
going to attempt to take the pro market with audio solutions that
rely solely on host based processing as opposed to expensive add on
cards and sell a lot of Macintoshes doing it.
But we just have to wait...
Regards,
Philip Benjamin
