Ben,
We've done some testing here and it does appear that Motion displays things too lightly, though our tests indicate that it's not as severe as what you're seeing below. Improving the color handling of all the apps in the suite is definitely something we're discussing a lot these days. But I can't say what the end result will be, or when users will see it, unfortunately.
