When you install the new apps from the app store, the older apps are moved to a different folder. Unfortunately, this breaks a few customer workflows with the older apps, particularly with Final Cut Server.
It's possible that your development process doesn't require these particular workflows, and you could have both versions on the same partition without issue. We don't recommend that customers do this, since we can't guarantee that all of the features in the older studio will continue to work if the older apps are moved.
