I can't assist your issue but thanks for the warning. We are running a 10.5 server for Open Directory and the 10.6 workstations seem to take longer to connect to the home folder. I have yet to bind a Lion workstation but will look out for issues.

We have grave issues trying to use 10.5 server with 10.7 clients via LDAP (no AD involved) and managed accounts/mobile homes. We were able to get syncing to work for a user by migrating his account from a 10.5 client to 10.7 machine. Still can't login as another LDAP user from same 10.5. server, though.
