I tried using AC2 both separately and along side our MDM. I was not satisfied with the result of using only AC2 to manage a cart of iPads compared to over-the-air enrollment in our MDM. Each app required separate Apple ID login to use after AC2. It was a mess. After enrollment in our MDM we had to log in with our Apple ID twice, then the iPad asked if we wanted to enter the ID for each app install or after 15 minutes idle.
After this experience I feel like even buying a license for Server app and using Profile Manage would be worth every penny compared to trying to manage iPads with AC2.
