Greetings,
Once again, my greatest thanks to all those who have helped on this and
some of the other lists to answer so many of my questions in the last
couple of weeks.
As some of you know I'm on a learning rampage :-)
Sorry for the repetition, to those with whom I've already shared the
following...
Years ago I learnt Pascal, and supposedly good programming techniques,
at university. In the last few years I've been a high end FileMaker
programmer.
In the last couple of weeks, I've learnt the basics of C, OO
programming, Obj-C, and starting to get my head around Cocoa, PB and IB
(although none of those were entirely new to me).
Now I want to look into Java, and possibly WebObjects.
Most of this is in an attempt to figure out where I want to take my
future (Definitely moving away from FileMaker). I'm fairly certain
that in the long term, it's the latter (WebObjects development). So I
want to get started on it right away :-)
Can anyone recommend the best books/tutorials/other learning materials
for learning enough Java to take on WebObjects and then to start
learning that, (given the basic rundown I've given above of what I've
learnt so far)?
I appreciate this is a big undertaking, particularly if I'm not
planning to do any expensive courses (that right now I just can't
afford), but I want to make the most of whatever I *can* do.
Any advice or direction will be most welcome.
Thanks in advance!
David.
