Newbie question
I have WO5.1 and have been looking at the jsp/servlet usage. I have
only used straight WO with WO application server.
From a brief read through am I wrong to think the following?
I can take existing applications that require WO application server and
rebuilt them to deploy on a Linux machine with Apache and Tomcat
running. ie not need for WO application server. I see comments and
literature on this topic but want a clean answer rather than reading
300 pages finding out oooo but you still need a WO application server
running to grab "x" information or resources.
Scenario.
Customer has a couple of spare machines they want me to configure for
work. They want Linux installed on them and a database on one and an
application server on the other. (Windows shop who hate Macs and are
willing to bend with Linux.) Can I rebuild my apps to run as servlets
from PB and use Tomcat to serve the pages? Is there something I am
missing on the feasibility side? Like I said, from the documentation
there is a bunch of jabber on java servers.......I was thinking this is
too good to be true.........
