Hi,
After reading this thread I figured out why I have to move from WO.
I was hook for three years with WO because the product is one of the
best I have worked with, the community is great and the platform is
stable and cool, BUT to gain a new account I need much more than that
to convice the customer.
I have pushed very hard WO in many accounts and I have lost many of
these opportunities because the prospect is not convinced on Apple
support and commitment with the tool and there is no way to show her
that is wrong. On the other side when you go with BEA or IBM to try to
gain an account, always you have a big team behind you ready to answer
any question, ready to visit the customer and show him how big is his
commitment with the tools/technoology and with the customer, and how
strong is my partnership with them and also ready to have a lunch with
the customer to talk about any aspect of their technology. That gives
you confidence and gives you big chances to make business with your
prospects.
When I have decide to push WO I need to fight alone, nobody is going to
help you, nobody is going to support you, nobody knows what the future
of the tool could be, etc., etc. In this case you have many chances to
LOST the opportunity.
Here in Mexico the Apple people (the apple office in Mexico) doesn't
know what WO is, I'm not kidding, its true.
After consider the benefits of this great tool and the benefits to make
business with other companies I have decided to MAKE BUSINESS with
other companies and forget to play with this cool tool.
It is hard to take this decision after many dollars invested in
powerbooks, licenses, ADC suscription, and to think to take back my
Toshiba.
By the way, BEA have decided to distribute their development tools (no
deploy license) for free and develoment and deploy license for 995 usd.
Saludos,
Daniel Mejia.
