Want to know whats worse? Obj-C EOF is NOT gone, it still exists and it ships with EVERY single copy of WebObjects. Its what makes EOModeler work. Its what makes DBEdit, EOReporter, and EOGenerator work. Its alive and kicking in its grave. Sure, there probably hasn't been a single bug fix made to it except what is needed to keep EOModeler happy, but its there, in all its pre-Java EOF glory days, and it works.

So that makes the idea of CoreData even more confusing. Why is Apple reinventing the wheel for something that ALREADY EXISTS and WORKS! I know companies who would start building database driven applications with Obj-C EOF today if it was re-released. Instead we getting some watered down, re-invent the wheel with sides, unproven version of EOF that can't even access major vendor databases, from what I hear. How many places do you think thats gonna fly in corporate America?

I don't believe EOF is going away. My understanding is EOF/WOF are alive and well. But, because EOF access via Obj-C doesn't exist anymore, Core Data has been created. Once again, my understanding, as I am not at WWDC.

My comment on EOF being killed referred to it no longer being available for Desktop apps (which happened a couple years ago). Not it being dropped entirely...THAT would be cause for a major alarm (and a bus full of psychiatrists being sent to Cupertino).

I don't get it -- if EOF is going away, and Core Data is this limited, what
are WO developers supposed to use -- especially for Opensource DBs?

Will we still be able to use the current EOModeler and incorporate EOModels
in our apps with Tiger?
