I am talking about deployed apps here ...... are you saying that Java
Monitor is using Direct Connect to communicate with those apps
No. It uses something else.
and that is the probable cause of the Refusing New Sessions button
not turning ON when clicked in Java Monitor
Sounds more like a file / directory permissions problem.
and that I should put WODirectConnectEnabled=false in the launch args
for my deployed apps even though that is the default anyway??
It should be in there by default for a monitor launched app.

I'm certainly not going to debate deployment with *you*. :-) What I
meant
was that the decision to not dispatch a request to a refusing
instance is
made at the webserver's woadaptor level. By the time the request
gets to
the app it is too late to refuse it. Since direct connect happens at
the
app level, it is not possible to refuse direct connect requests
because,
well, there is no adaptor involved. Well, unless something changed
recently which is entirely possible.
Is that correct?

Using WODirectConnectEnabled=true and Refuse New Sessions together

it gets to the app.
This last sentence isn't actually true; direct connect is done at the
application level.

Adding WODirectConnectEnabled=false to the additional arguments
should
fix this. Not sure why it happens though. But unless its there is
can
also prevent scheduled restarts of instances.

It seems since I upgraded to 5.2.3 a few weeks ago that any time
I do
an upgrade to my app and try to use the Refuse New Sessions in
Monitor, the button does not work any longer? Any ideas?
