Question on MS SQL Server Views and WebObjects

  • Subject: Question on MS SQL Server Views and WebObjects
  • From: Kieran Kelleher <email@hidden>

BACKGROUND: Up to now I have never used views (I've been using MySQL 4). The MS SQL Server "legacy database" project I am now working on has tables and views. EOModeler, upon reading in the schema, has created EOs for all the views (it sees them as tables). Due to the database design, in some cases, a View represents the EO better than the underlying table.

QUESTION: Can I completely ignore the fact that the EO maps to a view and not an actual table? Will it be transparent to my use of WebObjects EOF and EOModeler? If not, what pitfalls must I watch out for?

Thanks for any insight, Kieran
