I agree with Colin that WO 5.0.x is way buggy and should be avoided
like gratuitous dental surgery.
As the differences, build-wise, between the WO versions are all in the
frameworks, there is no reason to not be able to build multiple
versions from one machine. I'm certain that others have posted on
this. All that is needed is a script to copy the correct versions of
the FW's to /System/Library/Frameworks before starting to work.
But WO 5.0.x?

Hi Lachlan,
Generally speaking, no. The only option these days for developing
against WebObjects 5.0 is to install an old copy of OS X 10.1 and a WO
5.0 license and pretend it's still 2001. The API has changed
significantly between WO 5.2 and 5.0, and they're totally
incompatible. In the end, it's probably a good thing because 5.0 was
rather ridden with bugs. You don't want to go there.
Best of luck,
Colin

I'm looking at doing support and development on a large WO site that

running at 5.0.2; however, my tools will be new and therefore 5.2.3.
Is it even possible for me to develop at 5.2.3 and deploy at 5.0, and
are there any other issues here that I need to be aware of generally?
Many thanks
Lachlan Scott
