I'm just a newbie with this stuff myself and have not yet tried to sell it to anyone, but FWIW here's my take:

Apple makes heavy use of WO for their internal apps like their Store, iTunes, etc. It's certainly not going away any time soon. They don't put much energy into promoting it, and they take their sweet time releasing updates, but IMHO it's not time to worry about it actually going away unless they suddenly start unveiling new apps written in something else.

When we do start selling it to clients my intention is to present it as Java first, and the WO part as a handy collection of libraries that do much of the heavy lifting for you. Just like writing in Java but faster, so it saves the client money. That's a gross oversimplification, but it's close enough and it shouldn't be too hard to make an effective sales pitch from it.
