why dont you simply debug the application, check if the code gets
executed at all and such things. Its not too hard to check basic stuff
without any external help...

ERXPatcher adds a </img> tag after the image. From the definition,

correct, but "may" cause problems with older browsers.
You can easily patch the related sources in the appropriate classes to
create the image tag as you expect it.
