I'm totally new to webobjects. I was just looking around for

And what is that project? A lot depends on that.
Only problem was that I at the same time I
just discovered that all the dev. tools have been deprecated by
apple. :(
I think that is :-). Apple has decided to support the OpenSource dev
tools instead of competing with them.
So, it looks like it may not be the best time to start using it I
guess.
Or, it may be a great time to. You won't have to decide which tools
to prefer.
Can anyone tell me if it is even worth the effort to start putting
all my
time into learning this new technology, or am I better off just
looking to
some kind of J2EE solution since I have nothing invested in WO
yet? And
if so, what comes closest in functionality to WO?
WO is large and complex. Without knowing your needs, I can't say if
WO is just the ticket or overkill. If you need what WO provides,
there is really no equivalent technology out there. If what you need
is a small, PHP/MySQL based site, learning WO is massive overkill.
If you decided to no go with WO, I'd look at Cayenne/Tapestry or
perhaps Ruby on Rails.
