I don't think that I would suppress all warnings, but generics look
like a lot of bother for little benefit in many / most cases. They
seem to be fixing a problem that I don't have.

I hope you are joking. Warnings are important and help you find bug
at compile time instead of run time. @SuppressWarnings("all") will
suppress not only generics warning but also deprecations and others.

What do you think?
I agree with Ken Arnold (<http://weblogs.java.net/blog/arnold/
archive/2005/06/generics_consid_1.html>) and Bruce Eckel (<http://
www.mindview.net/WebLog/log-0050>) that Java Generics are a PITA
that aren't worth the bother most of the time. The amount of
time I've spent trying to make my custom code compile under
genericized WO 5.4 without warnings is disgusting. So I'm about
to decide to @SuppressWarnings("all") every custom class and
ignore Java generics. Heresy, I know, but I'm an Objective-C,
not a Java guy :-)
I am happy to see that I am not the only heretic here.
