I posted about a similar problem last week on the deployment list. Wade Price posted a solution to a problem he was having and it ended up being the same as mine:

"The new application startup script fails if the environment variable
HOME is not set. This is a problem since wotaskd is started by
launchd, it has no HOME variable in its environment. Therefore any
apps launched by wotaskd also do not have a HOME environment variable.
As a result, they fail to launch."

I have a suspicion that if this was introduced in the nightlies, this problem is probably gone ... This might have been related to accidentally triggering the use of the WO <5.2 startup scripts. As of a few days ago, it's back to the original startup script.
