You're late to the game. I was telling some customers since eight years that we were using Apache / Java / HTML / CSS for developing the apps. We are basing on "some 3rd party JARs to make development fast, but prefer OpenSource". Deployment can go to any "stable Java platform" and "we do not support Windows as we have not enough admin resources for this".
