did you saw the AjaxLongResponsePage example in Wonder ?

should be easy if you just want do display a spinning waiting, but if you want an exact status ( es. a progress bar, of a percent value ) I think we need to patch the ExcelGenerator adding a binding where it will push it's status periodically. I don't think is an hard thing to do. Let me check
