Yes. For example, the default for the maximum number of open files on Linux is higher than on OS X. And Linux doesn’t have restrictions like SIP or the sandbox, while not running I/O suckers like Spotlight and TimeMachine (yes, I know, you can disable them on OS X, but it’s on by default). And you have security updates for 7 years (CentOS/Ubuntu LTS), with Apple you get them for a max of 3 years unless you upgrade the OS every 2 years.
