Hi Michhle,
thanks for your information.... somehow I don't believe that this is
the problem though. If it was a simple PATH problem, then why can I
launch let's say gimp from the apple's x11 terminal withouth giving the
direct path, but not from the Application menu after starting X11 by
double clicking?
any further ideas?
cheers
alex

hi there,
I just noticed a very odd behaviour of the applications in the
applications menu added via it's customize.. option.
it seems to me that they only work, if I start x11.app from
Terminal.app/ via open -a /Appli../X11.app/
but not when clicking on it's symbol in dock.. very strange to me!!
could this be anyhow related to my .xinitrc?(can't imagine that,
but..?) or what could be causing this??
heres my .xinitrc just in case...
#!/bin/sh
source /sw/bin/init.sh
eterm&
exec quartz-wm
It's relatedt to the fact that X11 does not take your path into
account. So you have two options, either launch via the terminal, as
the terminal is the parent process, it gives its environment to the
child process (i.e. X11), or customize X11 via the Preferences pane
and instead of:
texmacs
type:
/sw/bin/texmacs
for example.
