I have an application that needs to be able to select a

According to xdpyinfo however, only TrueColor visuals

On other systems I would mess with /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
to get the visuals I needed by including a Depth 8 entry
in the Display sub-section, but there doesn't seem to
be such a configuration file on the Mac.
Any suggestions ?
As mentioned in another thread, your only option currently is to use
XDarwin in full screen mode where you can choose to start with a
PseudoColor visual. I can't comment on Apple's plans, but adding the
ability to use PseudoColor visuals in rootless mode is something I'd
like to spend time on after the great XFree86-Apple sync is over.
