Hi,
I posted something some days abo, but I see a connection here: I
have an Xquartz crash, this happens also to be in Matlab, but NOT with 3D
graphics and with colors verified to be set to millions, not 1000s.
Instead, it's when trying to zoom a 2d figure: The moment I click and hold
on the figure window, in starting to draw a zoom rectangle, bang! it crashes.
The reason I'm mentioning this again, is that it also crashes in fbBlt, so
make of that what you will. However, this has only happened to me twice now
(just this moment, in fact--good timing) and so I haven't isolated a
guaranteed way to make it happen.
My excerpt:
Thread 1 Crashed:
#0 0x000b4010 in fbBlt
#1 0x000b4b8c in fbBltStip
#2 0x000be93c in fbGetImage
#3 0x000b1060 in QuartzResumeXCursor
#4 0x0013bab0 in miSpriteInitialize
#5 0x0002732c in DoGetImage
#6 0x000274d0 in ProcGetImage
#7 0x000231f4 in Dispatch
#8 0x0000535c in main
#9 0x0001f7bc in QuartzMessageMainThread
#10 0x90020d48 in _pthread_body
I'll amend my original bug report w/ the new crash dump.
John

So if you have mysterious crashes in 3D graphics routines, check that
your display preferences are set to millions of colors. Don't believe
your eyes or your memory, check the preferences. The Xquartz. crash.log
shows something like the follwing:
I can't reproduce this. Perhaps you could tell me how to (i.e. exactly
which GL program are you using, what do you to do it to cause the crash)
and forward the complete crash log
The fastest way is to run matlab and type "bench". It (Xquartz, not
matlab) crashes on the 3D test. Every time. On two different machines.
Only when the display is set to 1000s of colors.
