This meant that you usually didn't have to use Command-C at all.

The quartz-wm does this. But it doesn't do the cut buffers, just
whatever is on the CLIPBOARD selection when switching from X11 to
native (i.e. whatever you last copy'd or cut in an X application). The
"Command-C" shortcut when X11 is active copies the contents of the
PRIMARY selection (i.e. whatever's currently selected) to the native
pasteboard
When you switch the other way it puts whatever is on the pasteboard
onto both PRIMARY and CLIPBOARD selections.
Sometimes this doesn't work. Right now, for example, I have a web
browser up (Chimera). I selected the text using the mouse. I did
Command-C (as well as selecting "Copy" from the "Edit" menu). I then
select X11 by punching the X icon on the dock. I then move to one of
my windows inside a vncviewer window and try to past the text. It ends
up pasting the text I last selected inside this vncviewer window
instead.
It works just fine if I paste into a window running directly under X11
on the Mac. I'm not quite sure of all of the differences with pasting
into a vncviewer window, but I'm pretty sure this worked correctly
under XDarwin.
Also, in the next release it will be possible to get the selection
proxying features with any window manager,
Maybe this is the problem. I'm running fvwm2 inside the vncviewer
window.
