...will the x11 icon in the dock disappear and therefore it wasn't
worth creating fancy icons? well, i'm thinking about a os9-style
integration of x11. how's that? in contrary to os9 in classic mode
(and compared to the standard xdarwin), apple's x11 starts *really*
fast, i think (i'm amazed by the startup speed, compared to oroborusx
for example). so why not starting it up in the background
automatically on startup?
- make a x11 preference-pane out of x11's preferences menu. and of
course extend that with further options (take keyboard layout from
aqua (yes/no, specify), start automatically when you log in or on
startup (yes/no) etc.)
- make x11 processes have a dock application icon (with option: group
all processes of same recource).
-some standard x11 application icons could be provided by apple or
there should be an easy way to add icons. ie apple providing us a
folder where we can put in the icons and name it correctly (xterm.icns
for xterm etc) or this could as well be an entry in the preferences
menu of each x11 app/process. for non-defined apps there would simply
be a standard x11-app icon (ie the project builder default icon with
an added X or something similar...)
- what should best be done with the menubar?
application menu:
about: maybe an intelligent about box? shows icon and the output of
the copyright (if present) and author section?
preferences: as mentioned above: select x11-application icon.
other entries (hide quit etc.) as usual.
file menu:
new: new process of recource
close etc as usual.
edit menu:
the usual..
window:
the usual...
help:
link to man page or html doc.
thanks for your patience...
