Many thanks for these instructions. I had read many messages on this
topic in the list, but being almost completely new to X11 and the Unix
way of doing this (all these .something files, and shells and window
managers), I had never been able to figure out whether the commands
given for getting a French keyboard should be typed every time X11 for
Mac OS X was launched (and X11 launched from Terminal), or whether
these commands could be put once and for good in some init file which I
could then forget about (until the next release of X11 for Mac OS X
where this would, hopefully, be fixed). None of the combination of
commands/init files I had tried so far had worked.
