TERMCAP Issues

I am not sure if this is an X11 installation issue or not, but the
problem began occurring shortly after I replaced XDarwin with Apple's
X11:

Commands that require knowledge of the terminal emulator such as clear
and tput return an error that states "'vt100': unknown terminal type "
and "'xterm': unknown terminal type" in Terminal.app and xterm on X11
respectively.  I suspected a bad TERMCAP value, so I ran "printenv |
grep TERM," and these are the values that were returned:

TERM=vt100
TERMCAP=!Z!Z!Z
TERM_PROGRAM=Apple_Terminal
TERM_PROGRAM_VERSION=81

and

TERM=xterm
(The other values were not defined under X11)

Any ideas or suggestions?
