Something that might help you diagnose this problem is the "xev" program.
When you run it, it starts an X11 window. All events that this window sees
are printed to the window you started "xev" from. Make that window active,
then press your newly rebound F15 key. You will get a KeyPress and a
KeyRelease event. They will tell you a lot of information about what that
key is bound to.
