oops.
The quartz-wm does not work on x11-wwdc.
I have begun using the oroborus Window Manager (not OroborOSX) to
replace
quartz-wm with the new X11.app.
But I can't minimize windows because there is nothing to hold their
Icons,
no desk manager. Is there a simple X-based desktop dock that doesn't
require compiling KDE, Gnome, or many other packages? I tried Motif,
but
oroborus supports more Mac-like features it seemed to me; plus it is
very
small.
When I occasionally need to use my old PB1400 to work from home via Xvnc
on our various unix boxes at College, I tend to find a combination of
oroborus with fspanel and deskmenu is the simplest way to go, yet it
gives really decent functionality. (The only problem I've had using it
with X11/XDarwin on OSX is that fspanel does not really cope well with
>1 screen - but I've recompiled my own versions with some hard-coded
window positions that make it work OK for my particular screen setups at
home and at work.)
Deskmenu (which is not useful in rootless mode) can be downloaded from
the oroborus website (www.oroborus.org), while fspanel (which is really
what you want) is available from http://www.chatjunkies.org/fspanel/
Hope that helps!
Adrian
