Michael,
The source code download will sometimes be a later distribution than
the binary. If you are using Fink Commander, the information is there
in the Latest and Binary columns. Personal preference for me is the
binary because there is no compile time. Pick an package and you can
have it up and running in less than 10 minutes usually. On larger
packages, compiling has taken 8 hours or more for some and I have heard
of longer. That's on a 1 Ghz G4.
