When you say you can not restart the system, you must mean the GUI
restart. I *think* if you type reboot/shutdown from the terminal, it
should do as instructed (not sure however, and can't really try it
right now...)
Actually no, even if I do a 'shutdown -r now' it will usually hang and
the only thing I can do is hold the power button to power down the
system. :-( I can't remember ever having to do that with any of the
other Unix systems I've ever used (mostly Linux boxes).
