for a start, remove your .xinitrc. X11 will then use
/private/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc. or you can copy this
one as .xinitrc to your home directory. (you will need
to change permissions if you want to edit it.)
Hi I tried this trick as well. It didn't work for my case. So at the
end I decided to to reinstall X11. And now it works fine, nevertheless
there is still one problem. I can't install rxvt for example using
fink? Here is the complain :

Do you want to continue? [Y/n] Y
dpkg -i
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11-system/xfree86-
base-threaded_4.2.1.1-16_darwin-powerpc.deb
(Reading database ... 3990 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking xfree86-base-threaded (from
.../xfree86-base-threaded_4.2.1.1-16_darwin-powerpc.deb) ...
You have an existing X11 installation in /usr/X11R6 and /etc/X11.
This package refuses to overwrite these. Remove them, then tell Fink to
install xfree86-base again. (The package won't be recompiled.) If you
want
to keep your X11 installation, install system-xfree86 resp.
system-xtools
instead to make this known to Fink's package system.
Press Return to continue.

I've read from Sao's website, that I need to install X11 SDK and Xcode
b4 fink which I did. So what is going on? Why is Fink asking me to
install xfree86 again? Is it due to the fact that I re-install X11
after installing Fink?
This Apple X11 business is getting confusing with Panther...phew.
Thanks for any help!!!!
