In Emacs the way I find this information is to open the editor M-x
report-emacs-bug then look for a line near the top such as
configured using `configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man
--infodir=/usr/share/info --without-x'
Then mail the folks to tell them you wish you could find this information
using M-x describe-installation (which you can if you use XEmacs)
I imagine there is a variable somewhere that records this string, but I use
XEmacs. *8^)
