The Matlab splash-screen shows, then the various program windows
open. At this point, I can see the blinking cursor in the Command
window but
cannot type anything, and clicks within any of the windows are
entirely
unresponsive.
Killing the matlab process at the CLI and immediately re-launching
(same command as above) results in a fully-functional Matlab session.
(FWIW, the version of Matlab is 6.1.0.450, release 12.1.)
Anyway, to make a long story short, I found that iconifying the app
then 'reopening' it (what would it be called de-iconifying?) got the
app back on track with my window manager, perhaps the same workaround
would work for you?
Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't help. "De-iconifying"
("restoring"?) the window results in a blank gray square where the
interface elements used to be -- again necessitating killing the
process.
The Unix (really, Linux) support goons (i.e. fervently anti-Apple) at
my university claim it is a major bug with X11.app, in particular the
way it inter-mixes X-windows with Aqua/Quartz and doesn't correctly
focus. I have no idea.... Any other suggestions to resolve this
problem? TIA.
