Well, no one could tell us how to fix our constant freezing
and crashing problems so what I want to do now is do some sort
of clean uninstall and then reinstall X11 and see if that
helps. I could probably track down the X11 directories and
remove them but I'm worried that the Powerbook G4 will still
think they are there for the purposes of upgrading. I don't
know how the mac software upgrades work. I can't find an
obviouse way to remove software packages. Can someone
tell me how to go about removing and reinstalling in the
best way?
Steve,
Delete the X11.app from /Applications/Utilities
Delete X11User.pkg and X11SDK.pkg from /Library/Receipts
Delete the X11R6 directory and files/directories within from /usr
When you remove the 2 files from /Library/Receipts/ then you will be able to
re-install. I would also delete ~/.xinitrc if it exists. Since you have been
having problems, that file may be part of the problem. Without knowing more
about your installation, I'll stop there.
/etc/X11 may also contain configuration files
