Mike,
Is your shell tcsh?
If so, can you open an xterm and do a "printenv", and send us the
result?
Also, are you running panther?

I guess I'm the only one with this problem. Maybe someone
can advise me on what setting I may have messed up.
When I change locations, all my open windows work fine,
but when I try to launch a new window from the X11-Applications
button in the toolbar, nothing happens. I have to re-start X11.
An example application is:
/usr/local/bin/rxvt -geometry 300x300 -bg ivory -fn times -sl 1000
I get the same problem if I just create a new "location" that has no
network options turned on, and switch back and forth between locations
with and without network connections. Again, all my existing, open
windows
work fine, but I can't open new windows under the X11 application
pull-down
menu.
I installed X11 and the developer tools from the CD that came with my
powerbook.

I use my Laptop at work and home, with multiple desktops
and sometimes with dozens of X11 windows open on different
desktops. X11 doesn't seem to be aware of location changes,
so when I go from work to home (and vice versa), X11 doesn't
function properly, and I have to close all X11 windows and re-start
X11.
Is there a parameter or command I can use to change my
network settings without having to restart X11?
Thanks for any advice....
Mike
I have no problem with this either... logon at work with ethernet,
and then home with airport, and just can access a remote machine via
ssh in xterm without changing any settings...
