Do *not* do this; it will just cause other problems.
Instead, undo any other hacks you may have tried to fix the problem,
e.g. remapping backspace/delete using xmodmap. Then do the following:
xterm -xrm '*backarrowKey: false'
... and in that shell, "stty ek". Then see if your backspace/delete behavior
isn't correct. For the acid test, run Emacs in terminal mode; you should be
able to backspace, as well as use the ^H key for its intended purpose
(invoking the help system).
