Actually our software is still 8-bit color running on Solaris/Sun

Just to clarify, what Matt Shultz is trying to do is to use
PseudoColor and TrueColor visuals on the same display. This does not
work with Apple's X11 or indeed with many other X servers on other
platforms as pointed out by others. Apple's 1.0 release of X11 does
handle PseudoColor correctly if you set it to start that way but then
you can't use TrueColor. A previous beta tried to mix and match the
two in a way that was incorrect.
One way to have both is to use X11(PseudoColor) AND XDarwin(TrueColor).
You have to change XDarwin to use it's own .xinitrc (i.e.
.xinitrc_xdarwin) so it don't mix up with X11. I also set the DISPLAY
to 1, assuming X11 uses 0 (?).
