ssh'ing to the G5 thru Terminal and thru X11
ssh with and without -X option
Use ssh -X. If you do it from the Terminal, make sure that your DISPLAY
variable in the shell from which you run ssh -X is set to :0. Other than
this, do *not* touch the DISPLAY variable on either system. Do *not* use
xhost.

G5 sshd_config: (comments '#' I now think are the problem?)
#X11Forwarding yes
You think right. This is your main problem. Uncomment this line.
After much internet searching, I think that editing the remote (G5) files
I would suspect that just a little googling would have found the answer
dozens or hundreds of times.
is probably my problem. Should I edit ssh_config or sshd_config?
I have read both :
http://tinyurl.com/tbkf
versus the FAQ for this forum which states :
Q: How do I forward remote X displays to my Mac?
A: The best (and safest) way is to simply ssh -X user@remotehost from the
initial xterm. X forwarding and your DISPLAY environment variable on the
remote host will automatically be set. Remote host must have X Forwarding
enabled in ssh_config file. MacOSX does not enable this by default.
There is just a typo: It should be sshd_config, not ssh_config, but
otherwise you have your answer in a nutshell.
This is indeed a bug in the FAQ.
ssh_config is for the local machine. If you enable ForwardX11 there, you
don't need the "-X" flag in the ssh command. Most people will not change
this.
