Yes! I get these drawers full of one-button mice I've never plugged
in, simply because I am forced to buy one from Apple!

I remember when Apple charged over-and-above the base price of the
computer to get a keyboard and a mouse.
To say that this strategy made people mad is a major understatement.
(Buy a new computer, find out that there's no keyboard, get really
cheesed by the time you've gotten back to the dealer on Xmas + 1...)
(Not an exaggeration -- This sort of thing happened -- The system
_must_, _by_default_, provide all of the parts to make it work, even
if only minimally. Failure to do so invites seriously unhappy
consumers.)
As for options when buying the computer: Apple can unequivocally
guarantee that their mouse works with their computer; they cannot
guarantee that the mouse from Bob's House of Pointers works with it.
If the One-Mouse Button doesn't work for you there are a lot of
alternatives. I like the Kensington's, but at least I didn't have to
buy one before the computer I brought home worked....
