I'm new to the group today. I've had my PowerBook G4 since May
and have had this problem continually. It is exactly as Eric
Miller described it in his "x11 freezes" except that sometimes
instead of freezing x11 just plain disappears. In either case
it does so quite humanely. If it disappears I just restart it.
If it doesn't disappear I can click on X11 and have it quit and
restart it. The rest of the machine is unaffected. However, it
is getting boring. I want to do all of my work in xterm in an
X11 window and this type of crash occurs several times a day.
So, finally, I decided it was time to get expert help and I see
that the question has already been asked. I just wanted to
add weight to the importance of the question. I've reinstalled
X11 but that didn't help.

I left linux for this but this little glitch is unpleasant.

Thanks,

Steve
