Any slowdown caused by encryption is probably overcome by
compression of the data stream.
I haven't seen any noticable slowdown using xterms over ssh. I don't
remember exactly how long I've been doing this, but I'm pretty sure the
first machine I did it with was a uncached 386-16, Tandy 4000, running
Xenix.

It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to
