I tried to get an answer out of the "fink-beginners" list, but they
apparently don't think this is their problem, so I'll try here.
I have installed both AbiWord and Gedit, but there seem to be some
things missing that Fink didn't include during the install, despite
a lack of errors:
1) Gedit's "tools" menu doesn't contain anything.
2) Not possible to choose a spell checking dictionary in AbiWord
despite Aspell and gnome-spell having been installed.
I hope someone here can help me with this.
You may go in menu Edit/Preferences. Click on the plugins tab and
enable the one you want.
As for spell checking, aspell or gnome-spell are just the dictionary
engines, you have to install the desired dictionnary before being
able to spell check. There are a few in fink:
aspell-da, aspell-de, aspell-fr, aspell-en, aspell-id, aspell-nl,
aspell-it from memory. Other ones are available for the aspell site.
The best thing to do if you don't know how to use some package is
first to read the documentation, second to ask the source team.
1 - read the documentation consists of:
a - fink info whicheverpackage
it often gives you some usage info and the location of the web site
where you'll find more info
b - read the documentation in prefix/share/doc/whicheverpackage or
prefix/share/gnome subdirectories
Cheers,
Michèle
