You should be able to change "Move focus to next window in active
application" under Keyboard Shortcuts to anything you want. Enable
Keyboard Shortcuts under X11 Must be checked in X11's preferences for
it to work in X11. It is likely it is set to something convenient for
the Italian Keyboard already.

command plus whatever you have to type to get a tilde should work,

On the Italian keyboard layout: "alt-5" procudes "~", but also
"command-alt-5" produces the same result.
Command-digit select the corresponding X11 window as shown in the
menu bar (Window -> command-1, etc.).
The only key combinations that works on my PowerBook is
command-left arrow and command-right-arrow, with two
difficults:
1) my brain has problems to use the right hand to do cycling
operations :-D
2) (more objective) to go back and forth between two windows
you hawe to remember the correct command to use, command-left
or command-right, depending on the current window you have
focus.
Btw, this is at the moment the situation on my PB.
Many thanks to everybody :-)
