This was a huge help. I followed both links, downloaded the
Xquartz-1.2a7.bz2 file, printed off the directions and proceeded to (from a
Terminal window):

sudo su
cd /usr/X11/bin
mv Xquartz Xquartz.Leopard.orig
cp /Downloads/Xquartz-1.2.a7 .
chmod 755 Xquartz-1.2.a7
ln -s Xquartz-1.2.a7 Xquartz

problem is resolved.

After things slowdown I would still like the exit prompt to be optional but
that is basically only a nuisance problem anyway.

For Buz (my .Xdefaults file in my home directory):

Xterm*autoRaise: true
Xterm*autoWrap: true
Xterm*autoraiseDelay: 20
XTerm*background: LightBlue
XTerm*foreground: Black
XTerm*cursorColor: Red
XTerm*scrollBar: true
XTerm*rightScrollBar: true
XTerm*saveLines: 5000
XTerm*loginShell: true
XTerm*reverseWrap: true
XTerm*faceName: Schumacher
XTerm*faceSize: 16

I have chosen different colors but my colors are working.
At this point, I think the only thing in here which are being ignored are:
    Xterm*autoRaise and possibly Xterm*autoraiseDelay

MANY, MANY thanks to Ben, et.al for their major improvement to the Leopard
X11 usability. Keep up the great work!
