Nathan,

Try adding :9 to the end of the command line, as Ben mentioned a little earlier, haven't had a chance to try connecting to an xdmcp session with it, but Xephyr launches when you add that option to the end

This is a known issue that no one else on this list will comment on
except me, so far. I get the exact same behavior with 1.2a7 and 1.2a8
doing "Xquartz -query -once (mylinuxserverIP)". Since no one else
will even comment on this issue and I'm not an X developer, I have
absolutely no idea why this is happening.

I haven't commented on it yet because I have not yet set up an XDMCP
setup I can play with. However, as a workaround, have you tried
Xephyr? You should be able to to download Xephyr from my site (http://people.freedesktop.org/~bbyer/x11app/
). Xephyr lets you run a "virtual" X server within a window. I would
imagine you could run "Xephyr -fullscreen -query -once
(mylinuxserverIP)" from Terminal.app, which would then cause X11.app
to run, and run Xephyr as a client. An advantage of this would be
that you could drag this "fullscreen window" to one of your Spaces,
and be able to switch back and forth easily.

Well, Xephyr appears to be completely broken to me. I tried your suggestion above and here's what happened:

1) Ran "./Xephyr -fullscreen -query (IPaddress) -once"

2) The dock twitches as if it is about to add an icon, but changed its mind.

3) Nothing happens. So I wait.

4) Approximately every 14 seconds the dock twitches again, as in #2

5) I ctrl-c out, and an X11 icon pops up in the dock about 8 seconds
later. (Weird)

Any other suggestions?
