This might not be a new problem. I have seen something similar before
(on Panther and Tiger), with xfwm4 running remotely from a Linux box
when I press the Tab key. (Press Tab key, and xfwm4's window switcher
appears and I have to kill xfwm4 to recover, but any other key works
correctly.)

However, I have no idea may cause this.
